Commercial Storefront

South Gilpin and Evans Storefront

This storefront at the corner of South Gilpin and Evans near the University of Denver needed a unifying statement, but one at a low cost. We proposed options including new storefront systems, new lighting, new finishes, and awnings. We puzzled over the low budget and the project requirements, and came upon a novel means to meet them, namely, the integration of awnings with bold signage.

We bridged an aluminum frame with perforated metal on the exterior in bold colors. Within the frame we placed awnings, and detailed a means by which water could escape at the edge. The result was a clear theme with bold visibility both by passengers in passing vehicles and by pedestrians.

A number of tenants have come and gone since our project’s inception. Suffice to say we are not affiliated with any of these.
