Suburban Art Center

The suburban community of Pleasant Ridge, Michigan needed an art center with studios for the teaching and production of art, and galleries for its display. I designed a 23,000 square foot structure to accommodate the building program.

I was particularly drawn to the sculptural forms of expressionist architecture. I enjoyed the smooth and sensual forms of the architecture of German Jewish Architect Eric Mendelsohn, and employed some of these in this project.
