Brecksville Craftsman

Craftsman - Tuscan home design with elegant timber detailing.

A fire vacated this traditional two-and-one-half story home in the Glenville neighborhood on the East side of Cleveland. The home was built in 1912, and is approximately 1500 square feet on a 3,290 square foot lot. Notable features included a large entry porch, and attic dormers with hipped roofs. The property had a detached garage.

An open barbecue in the back yard caused the fire, damaging certain elements, including gables, windows, doors, a rear porch system, and nearly the entire garage. Certain elements were reparable, maintaining existing fabric, whereas others needed to be replaced en masse.

The project required a set of drawings to facilitate repairs, and to satisfy code requirements and permitting conditions. Several details and sections were required at damaged areas, as well as some abbreviated specifications.  The home was fully repaired.
