This home is on Lancelot Way in the most congenial subdivision of Camelot in North Royalton, Ohio. The 3,080 square foot house is of frame construction, and was built in 1991. The owners have requested designs for a series of expansions and renovations, chief among these being a rectangular-shaped external pool house sited adjacent to the existing home, with a pool inside for both exercising and lounging.
The pool house has been given the same Tudor Revival styling of the existing house (and in fact, most of the houses in the development). The pool would be accessed from the home by way of a gallery hall. The creation of this new gallery necessitates a significant alteration to the kitchen as well, improving the existing kitchen in overall aesthetics, layout, form, and finish. This new kitchen layout is explored for considerations of volume, ease of use, and attractive visage.
The project has evolved through no less than five incarnations in terms of the pool building’s placement and orientation and the location and form of the pool mechanical room. In the latest incarnation, this room is located in an attractive tall Tudor turret inboard towards a courtyard, an amenity that also emerged in the design process.
