This brick ranch home with a colonial flavor was originally built in 1968 on a suburban street with numerous one and two-story houses. The owners had outgrown the single-story plan and desired additional room on the upper level. Ergo, a builder approached us to develop this design for the upper level, and to confirm the house’s structural stability for such an addition. From three distinct concept drawings, the owners selected a craftsman design, with a certain Swiss aspect. New gables face front and a number of dormers face the side, in order to maximize the space in the building. The owners decided to put the design on hold, and seek out a large plot of land that would better accommodate an increased program.
