This neo-colonial home, constructed in 2003, has over 3,000 square feet and includes five bedrooms. The owner specifically requested an addition to the house on its south side, extending along the south property line moving towards the back of the property. The massing, direction, and alignment of the addition was determined by its relationship to existing rooms in the house, and its relationship to the site and its setbacks.
The addition design contained these rooms and elements, as follows: a mud room and entry, a master bedroom and master bath, a sunroom (with potential to function as a bedroom for parents), and a bathroom for that secondary bedroom with an auxiliary purpose of a bathroom for users of a swimming pool. The pool will be new, built adjacent to a deck constructed later.
We also drew up an alternate plan and rendering shown here, on the other side of the house which the owner referenced without permission, with only minor modifications and without any respectful requests or acknowledgment.
